This is necessary to avoid yarn hangers in such gaps and therefore ensure a proper and even processing of the yarn through the TRB and thus a maximum Frieze quality. Wedges are subject to wear resulting from their exposure to the running yarn and in case of wear occurring they need to be exchanged.
There are two types of wedge currently available:
TRB wedge (standard) – Item No. 103029
This standard TRB wedge is our regular wedge. It is very economical price-wise and fairly low maintenance. The “arrow” on the wedge is what is sealing the gap between the top and bottom feed rollers of the TRB. The arrow’s dimension is slightly larger than the gap so that it can “grind in” immediately after installation in order to nestle up perfectly to the rollers to ensure a minimum gap. During this “grind in” period (a couple of minutes) the excessive material is worn off. |
TRB wedge with improved wear-resistance – Item No. 105336
This wedge is made from a more wear-resistant material. Therefore, with most yarns (depending on its abrasiveness) will last significantly longer than the standard wedge. However, due to the material being “harder”, the excessive material on this wedge’s arrow is not worn off, but pushed aside. This can sometimes lead to a slight bur being built up on its edges. This bur needs to be taken off carefully after the initial “grind in” period with a fine sand paper as yarn (especially high filament yarn) could catch there. The arrow is designed to have the lowest possible amount of excess material. So, this wedge needs a little more effort at installation or shortly after, but it will last longer and should reduce your wear parts cost. |
