Technical Newsletter October 2017 - Maintenance climate control

We have noticed that it is fairly often the case that customers are not cleaning their equipment as regularly as needed and that this consequently leads to a noticeable reduction in the performance of the machine.

Therefore, we strongly recommend following our cleaning instructions at regular intervals as advised.

“Well treated equipment will last longer”.

This also applies to the climate control.

When either dirt or dust comes into a climate control unit then this can lead to the cooling fans not working efficiently and this will then result in a reduced performance of the climate control. Eventually this will lead to a too higher temperature inside the cabinet resulting in the machine stopping.

Therefore, the climate control units should be cleaned on a regular basis and it is recommended that this is carried out every 6 -12 months depending upon the conditions in the facility.

Unfortunately, most of the dirt inside the climate control is not visible before disassembling.
Please follow the cleaning instructions provided below:

  1. Remove the cover of the GSM cooling unit and disconnect the connector from the display.
  2. Clean out the heat exchanger coil and compressor chamber using compressed air.
  3. Open the door of the GSM cabinet and check that the filter of the cooling unit on the inner side of the door is clean. Clean if necessary.

Additionally, remove the cover inside the door and check that the inside is clean and dry (no condensate).

Main Cabinet Cooling Unit

As a maintenance-free, hermetically sealed system, the cooling circuit has been filled in the factory with the required amount of coolant, tested for leaks and subjected to a function trial run.

The installed maintenance-free fans use bull bearings which are protected against moisture and dust and are fitted with a temperature monitor. The life expectancy is at least 30,000 operating hours. The cooling unit is thus largely maintenance free.

All that may be required from time to time is that the components of the external air circuit are cleaned using compressed air.

The filter of the A/C side panel has to be cleaned on a regular basis. However, not only the filter of the A/C side panel has to be cleaned on a regular basis, but it is also necessary to ensure that the ribs of the chiller are also kept clean.

Caution: Prior to any maintenance work the power of the cooling unit must be disconnected.

If you are following theese steps your equipment will last longer. If you are having any further question please don't hesitate contacting us.
